The Wetter People from New Zealand would have no trouble providing Zaphod with his second head throughout the whole film. I guess "easier" = "cheaper"... which is a fair reason. Perhaps it also makes it easier for the actor who plays Zaphod. But I wonder how tight the budget has been on the film.

See my post about the new trailer. You can see the second head pop up in one scene. You also see his third arm dropping ice into glasses held by the other two.

Well, IF you remember from the book, he doesn't always have two heads.
When Arthur meets Zaphod at a party in Islington "he only had the two arms and the one head and he called himself Phil".

Yeah, I'm offended by this concept as well.....aside from the mention of when Zaphod was a the party picking up Trillian, his extra head and arm were always there in their full glory. none of this "only when needed crap"

The BBC TV series managed to do it, even if it was a pain in the butt (half the time the prosthetic they used didn't cooperate)

I know there is a long standing tradition of huge changes between various incarnations of the HitchHikers story thread (Radio Show, TV Show, Re-Recorded "radio show", books, radio scripts, video game etc) but a huge change like this, is only going to alienate the loyal fan base.

            my two cents

Yes, but he had a rather conspicuously covered birdcage on his shoulder, right?

i'd also like to say that this method of two-head-swapping could easily be part of DNA's movie script version.
he had been working on it and tweaking it and re-writing it for years and years, so it is hard to say what new ideas he would have come up with.
for example, i don't think he ever really liked how Marvin looked in the BBC show.

my point is that it seems like the people making this have gone to great lengths to be very failthfull to the script that DNA left, but some changes are going to happen. it is inevitable...

i am giving them the full benefit of the doubt until after i have sen the entire movie.

              but thats just me... :P
