29 April 2005 (Yay!)

Ok, so there I was watching a movie on the big screen (not my house, a bigger one at the theatre) and they showed the latest trailer for the Guide. I finally saw Phil and then his head flip up. I thought it was quite interesting that they portrayed Zhapod in this way. The head flipping up was interesting, it seems almost as if rather than a second persona it is just an “alternate” head for him, maybe he changes from Zhapod to Phil at will? Then the third arm kinda just appeared from nowhere as if he did not have it. I am really curious to see how they are going to play this off. The movie definitely looks good, very “action-y” The frog fly-swatter things seemed terribly funny. Marvin, well he took a bit of growing on for me through all the trailers. I guess he’s ok, just a bit small. I got used to the big Marvin from the BBC. (Speaking of, KTEH (SF Bay area) is airing Hitchhikers, I guess as a lead up to the movie. Sunday nights at 10:30 after Red Dwarf).

Well till the movie… Hey I don’t know if a group of ya’ll want to get together for the flick, for those of ya’ll that are around San Francisco maybe we could meet up for the movie on the 29th? We could grab a bite at Milliway’s after :)

I am looking forward to seeing the film - no idea when it will reach Europe, though.

I hope I don't see the trailer for it, because I absolutely hate trailers. They go on for far too long and show you just about the whole film - they show all the best jokes, but mix the scenes up tiny a bit.

I wonder whether trailers are the same in every country. I saw some French trailers for another film and that was very impressionistic - it didn't give away any jokes at all. I don't know - maybe that was only a "teaser" and French trailers are just the same as American ones.

Dunno where you are in Europe, but according imdb.com
      us.imdb.com/title/tt0371724/releaseinfo

but if you're in the UK you get it the 28th, the day before us.

Elsewhere it filters through with openings every month till August.

Time for a trip to London eh?

As for a SF Bay Area meet to see the movie, I'd love to see it with other fans, the only tricky thing is that I'll be starting a new term at school, and it looks like I'll be back on nights then =(

  • What theatre?

So does any one know what theatres will be showing the movie? Are there any preferences? (If not I'm going to suggest the Century 20 in Daly City since they usually are the easiest to get to. AMC 1000 would be my second choice.)

Friday night would be perfect, I don't know if anyone knows how to get movie schedules for movies about to come out, if so if they could post the times. I'm gonna assume it will show at around 7pm, 9pm, and like 10:30ish... so with that in mind how's 7 or 9 sound to everyone? (which could translate into 8 or 10, or...)

Well, as I said earlier, I'm going to have evening classes when the movie comes out, so only Sat or Sun would work for me. (not that I think this schedule should be predicated by my availability, I'll probably just see it by myself or perhaps with some classmates Friday afternoon before class, we are afterall officially designated as Class 42!)

If I was going, being an East Bay kid, I'd prefer something in the City over Daly City, the AMC1000 and Metreon are both easy enough to get to. On this side of the bay but still somewhat centrally located, I'd say Baystreet. (prolly where my classmates and I would go as it's just down the street from school)

hehe...well if you wanna get that way about it, then I'll just see it at the Brendan in Concord, or the Century in Pleasant Hill....

          a 15 min walk or a 5 min drive, or a 10 min drive.
